Country Singer Billy Pierson

In 2008 I was contacted by a law firm that ran a small country music label, Launching Lyrics. The firm needed a website developed for their lead artist, Billy Pierson.

At the time I was working for a company on the verge of being bought out by Xerox, a huge firm but impersonal as only a 60,000 employee firm can be. So I took joy in moonlighting on the side doing web development. A group on the verge of breaking, I quickly accepted the job and got to work on the design, especially with Billy’s new album about the drop.

I met Billy a few times, my wife photographed him, and I interviewed him for the site. This picture on the right was Billy playing in Lexington, KY earlier this year.

Today at work I got a call to post an announcement that Billy had been killed in an early morning car accident. He was on the verge of making it, his new single hitting #34 on the Billboard Charts, and a car accident, a car accident where Billy was not wearing his seat belt, claimed his life.
